MTV World Stage Live in Malaysia 2013

This year saw our lasers light up MTV's show for the first time. MTV World Stage is a global series that brings multi-genre talents with global relevance to an audience in over 550 million households.

MTV World Stage Live in Malaysia is part of this platform that delivers the MTV brand experience not only on the ground with MTV fans in Malaysia, but with a global airing in 154 countries across MTV Networks. The Malaysia show is also MTV’s first originally-produced MTV World Stage event globally, which started in 2009.

Big Think Attractions was very excited to be tasked to provide a new layer of spectacle to an already spectacular event! The site for the event was Surf Beach at Sunway Lagoon, home of the world's largest water ride, the VUVUZELA.

Far East Movement (FM) are renowned for their high impact performance, so we were naturally tasked to support Tony, the LD for FM and created a brilliant light show.

Our rig included 8 x 15 watt RGB laser system and 5 x MDG MAX 3000 APS fog machines - set against the backdrop of the impressive stage set and filling the Surf Beach with high power beams and special effects, the lasers provided one of the real high points for the show. 

The laser system was connected by network cable and operated via our LivePRO controller. Working closely with MTV's production team, our operator programmed and delivered spectacular show.

MTV World Stage Live in Malaysia 2013 will make a spectacular splash back at the Surf Beach @ Sunway Lagoon. The much-anticipated outdoor music concert that is recorded live for global telecast marks its fifth year on Sunday, 8 September 2013, with international acts from Billboard Hot 100 in the US, Robin Thicke and Far East Movement who are set to ignite this year’s MTV World Stage together with Asian K-Pop band EXO (who are making their first performance in Malaysia and on MTV), and Malaysia’s own and one of Asia’s leading hip hop stars, Joe Flizzow.

ROBIN THICKE

Born in Los Angeles, Robin Thicke released his single, “Blurred Lines” from his sixth and latest album in March this year, and made waves in the music scene.

FAR EAST MOVEMENT
Far East Movement became international sensations when they made history with their 2010's platinum-selling hit, "Like a G6".

EXO

This 12-member group, EXO-K (Korean) and EXO-M (Mandarin), was created with a great aspiration to captivate audiences all around the world starting from Korea and China.

JOE FLIZZOW

Since the release of his award-winning 2009 English album, The President, Joe Flizzow has performed across the world, including Australia, U.K. and Asia.

The Best Fog Through Better Generators

The MDG Difference...

APS - Automatic Purging System purges the heating modules after the initial heating cycle and every fog / haze emission thereafter, preventing residual build-up and clogging.

Inert gas used to pressure-propel fluid through the generators, streaming constant fog / haze safely without noise.

A stabilised heating module that incorporates fail-safe systems to ensure the generator doesn't over and under heat.

100% duty cycle means that with proper usage, MDG generators will produce fog constantly with an operating level of fluid and gas.

In collaboration with the University of Sydney, Amplify Festival and Vivid Sydney, Oracle Attractions delivered laser animations for an interactive piece on the AMP building at Circular Quay. The intriguing installation started at ground level where bubbles of projected light formed around the bodies of participants. The bubbles floated up the building (using Oracle Attractions full colour laser projectors) and morphed into paper cranes. Participants watched as the cranes they had created flew about on the building facade, before disappearing into the "sky".

MTV Asia announced the return of MTV World Stage Live in Malaysia at Sunway Resort City. The much-anticipated outdoor music concert, recorded live for global telecast marks its fifth year on Sunday, 8 September 2013, with international acts Robin Thicke and Far East Movement who will perform with Malaysia hip hop star, Joe Flizzow. MTV VJs Alan and Hanli will be hosting this year’s concert, sponsored by Sunway Group, Xpax and Suzuki, and supported by broadcast partner, Astro.
